Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs Business Plan Competition

At the 2007 Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs Convention in Anchorage, Hawai`i Maoli announced the first annual business plan competition for Hawaiian Civic Clubs.

As part of the competition Hawai`i Maoli is offering a special development program for the Hawaiian Civic Clubs in 2008, designed to improve club activities and support new business development. The 2008 program will offer a series of 1 and 2-day courses aimed at core organizational development topics and the development of business plans and opportunities.

The 2008 development program includes several courses specifically designed to improve club performance. They include:

  • Purpose and Planning
  • Strengthening Leadership
  • Membership Development
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Technology and Tools

The 2008 business plan program also includes courses specifically for assisting Clubs with developing new business ideas. The courses will guide clubs from concept development through business plan writing and document filing. Courses include:

  • Identifying Business Opportunities
  • Developing Product / Service Idea
  • Running the Numbers
  • Writing the Business Plan
  • Filing the Paperwork

Civic Clubs that attend the development program courses and complete and submit a business plan are eligible to compete for prizes of up to $15,000 in business grant funding and technical assistance. Winners will be announced at the 2008 AHCC Convention in October 2008
